Library

The Library was relaunched in Colaiste Dun Iascaigh in September 2016. It was relocated and refurbished in a larger location. New furniture and books were purchased to make the space more attractive and foster a love of reading. Students can read, relax and research for projects in the new space.
Book clubs for Junior and Senior students take place every month. Books are available to all every lunch time to check out. Other lunch time activities include arts and crafts and debating. There is a relaxing atmosphere, especially in our soft cosy area. There is always a rush for the bean bags!
There is also a new stage area to host debates and guest speakers. We are looking forward to a visit from Paul Howard in September. He is the author of the popular “Ross O’Carroll Kelly” series and hopefully the first of many visiting writers.
The library has become the hub of student life in the Colaiste. The library is run by a committee made up of students and teachers. They are responsible for the running of the library and organising activities that take place there.
We look forward to further developments in the next school year, and continuing to promote literacy in the school.
