Green Schools

For our Greenschools Day of Action this year we decided to participate in the National Spring Clean Week. We involved 1st Years and TYs to help us with this project and both helped us to pick up litter around the school, get rid of the weeds surrounding the Colaiste and plant flowers in our new flowerpots which we put around the school. Thanks to all the students involved and especially to the teachers who supported them.

Colaiste Dun Iascaigh have begun their pursuit of their fourth Green Flag.

Having already secured awards for Energy, Water Conservation and Litter, they are now looking for one for transport. Last week, this campaign was launched by Minister Alan Kelly in the school. On Wednesday the school had a COW/POW day. Students were encouraged to Cycle on Wednesday or Walk on Wednesday. Students decided to park and stride the last piece of their journey to school and despite the weather, the vast majority of students and staff did.
