High School Musical

This year's musical in Colaiste Dun Iascaigh will be High School Musical. Following the retirement of the maestro Ms. Deirdre Buckley, Ms Norma Barry-Hurley is joined this year by new co-directors in Ms Kate Lineen and Ms Judith Shortall. Both are teachers in the school and both have a history of acting and singing on stage successfully themselves.
A new show means a new cast and this year the lead roles were eventually given out after many hours of discussions and call-backs. the cast was eventually decided upon. The directors were delighted to see that the cast already knew many of the songs off by heart already by watching the movie over and over again. (That was just the boys!). Some of the parts given are as follows: Troy-Cavan McKenna; Sharpay - Saoirse Murphy; Gabriella - Nicole Butler; Ryan - Cillian Conway; Taylor - Alyssia Keating; Eoin Rowe - Coach Darbus; Amy O'Carroll - Mrs Darbus; Patrick o' Donovan - Chad; Loredana Marginean - Kelsie. As always the Junior and Senior chorus are an integral part of the show and there are wonderful sing-a-long songs that will stick in the head for days after the show.
The show goes on in the school on the 26th, 27th and 28th of November.
